Govt urged not to pin ‘Covid hopes’ on private hospitals
BENGALURU:
Even as the state government has put some of its ‘corona eggs’ in the private-hospital basket, its own task force members have cautioned against over-dependence on private hospitals for reducing the Covid case load.
Experts like Dr Devi Shetty, Dr Manjunatha, Dr Girish and Dr Sudarshan, who along with Chief Secretary Vijay Bhaskar participated in a meeting with the Chief Minister, said the government needs to assess the situation for another two weeks before deciding on its next course of action.
“Imposing a complete sealdown or lockdown will curb the spread, but what after that? After Unlock.1, vehicles are back in the city in large numbers and this needs to be curbed,” they opined.
They opined that the spread of the virus can only be controlled by maintaining social distancing, which is not being followed strictly by residents.
