KEA Announces DCET 2026 Second-Round Seat Allotment Schedule; Option Entry Open Until September 5
Bengaluru, September 2: The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced the second-round seat allotment schedule for DCET-2026 candidates seeking admission to second-year or third-semester engineering courses and first-year architecture courses, with eligible candidates allowed to add, modify or delete options from 2 pm on September 2 until 1 pm on September 5.
According to the KEA notification dated September 2, the seat matrix and fee details for the second round, covering seats arising from Choice-3, Choice-4, forfeited and cancelled seats and any newly added seats, were published on September 2.
KEA said candidates should carefully review the available seats and their existing option list before making changes. Candidates have been advised to save their options after checking the printed list of the choices they have entered.
The provisional seat allotment result for the second round will be published after 6 pm on September 5, while the final seat allotment result will be announced after 6 pm on September 6.
Candidates allotted seats in the second round can pay the prescribed fee and download the confirmation slip from 11 am on September 7 until 5 pm on September 9. Any fee already paid in an earlier round will be adjusted in the second round if the candidate selects a seat in this round, according to the schedule.
The last date for candidates to report to the allotted colleges is September 10, up to 6 pm.
KEA has clarified that after publication of the final seat allotment result, candidates will not be given any choice selection facility and will not be permitted to reject the allotted seat. Candidates allotted a seat must proceed with admission to the allotted college within the prescribed schedule.
The authority has also issued detailed instructions for candidates who selected Choice-2 after the first round. Such candidates can participate in the second round for higher-order options above the seat already allotted to them. The options entered by candidates will continue to remain in the system as applicable under the prescribed rules, and candidates have been advised to arrange their options carefully according to priority.
KEA explained that, for Choice-2 candidates, only higher-order options above the option already allotted will be considered in the second round. Options below the allotted option will not be considered. Candidates can add new options among the eligible higher-order choices and rearrange them according to their preference.
If a Choice-2 candidate is allotted a higher-order seat in the second round, the earlier allotted seat will automatically stand cancelled and the newly allotted seat will be assigned to the candidate. If no higher-order seat is allotted, the seat already allotted to the candidate will continue, as specified in the instructions.
The notification also contains separate instructions for candidates who exercised Choice-3 in the first round. These candidates can participate in the second-round process by reviewing the available seat matrix and modifying, adding or rearranging their options in accordance with KEA’s prescribed procedure.
KEA has advised candidates not to wait until the last moment to enter or modify their options and to complete the process well before the deadline.
The second-round process begins with publication of the seat matrix and fees on September 2, followed by the option-entry window from September 2 to September 5, provisional allotment on September 5, final allotment on September 6, fee payment and confirmation-slip download from September 7 to September 9, and college reporting by September 10.
