Carver Aviation Eyes Flying Training Academy at Vijayapura Airport, Seeks 2.5 Acres: MB Patil
Bengaluru: Maharashtra-based Carver Aviation has expressed interest in setting up a satellite flying training academy at the Vijayapura airport, which is ready for inauguration, Infrastructure Development Minister M.B. Patil said.
Patil said the proposed academy could create opportunities for local students and youth, and that another meeting would be held at the officials’ level to work out the contours of the project.
The minister held discussions on Wednesday with Carver Aviation Director Neville Bharucha and Manager Paramesh Parikh, who met him at Khanija Bhavan in Bengaluru.
According to Patil, the company has sought 2.5 acres of land adjoining the airport premises to implement the project in Vijayapura. If established, the facility would support flying training as well as aircraft maintenance, repair and related MRO activities and ground-support operations.
Once the flying training academy becomes operational, the company would be able to use the airport’s runway, taxiway and apron. The land sought by the company is proposed to accommodate hangars, training infrastructure and facilities required for aircraft maintenance, Patil said.
He said the project could help strengthen the aviation ecosystem and connectivity in North Karnataka and generate hundreds of direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Patil said Carver Aviation has been operating since 1995 and holds a licence from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The company is engaged in pilot training, aircraft maintenance and allied aviation services.
According to the minister, the company has trained a large number of commercial and private pilots and operates several single-engine and multi-engine aircraft.
The final structure of the proposed Vijayapura academy and the nature of its activities will be decided after detailed discussions, Patil said.
Company officials have also assured that local students would be offered attractive concessions in training fees if the academy is established, according to the minister.
The company representatives said early operationalisation of Vijayapura airport would facilitate the implementation of projects of this nature.
