“Last year, we conducted the SSLC examination for six days from June 26 to July 3. This year, we are conducting the examination to boost confidence amongst students as they will have to select Science, Arts or Commerce for their future studies,” the Minister said.

Hall tickets from June 30

“This year, the SSLC examination will be conducted over two days. Core subjects like Maths, Science and Social Science will be on July 19 and Languages on July 22. The exam will have objective type questions. Hall tickets will be available from June 30 with the respective headmasters,” Kumar added.

The Education Minister said Section 144 would be enforced around 200 metres from the examination centres..

The examination will be held from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm on both days. Directions have been issued to all the Deputy Commissioners to ensure that all teaching and non-teaching staff in schools have been vaccinated by the next week.

One student per desk

The department will issue N95 masks to all the examinees and students can also wear good cloth masks and face shields if they wish to. This apart, maintaining social distancing and use of sanitisers have been prioritized. Only one student will be allowed per desk while only 12 students will be accommodated in one examination classroom, Kumar said.

He also said that directions have been issued to district Deputy Commissioners to see that special arrangements are made for students who are not feeling well.

The Minister pointed out that around 8.76 lakh students will be appearing for the SSLC examination this year compared to last year’s 8.46 lakh students.

As per the Minister, this year around 73,066 examination centres (rooms) have been allotted compared to last year’s 48,000 centres.

‘Sick’ invigilators barred

The Health Department has also shared SOPs with the Education Department which have to be followed strictly. He said any invigilator or teacher having symptoms of cough or fever will not be allowed to enter the examination centre.
