Karnataka Sangha Qatar Honours Khalid Al-Sayed and Vikrant Patil at Engineers’ Day in Doha
Doha/Bengaluru: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ) honoured Khalid Al-Sayed and Vikrant Patil with the Abhiyantara Shree Awards at its Engineers’ Day celebration at Mumbai Hall, Indian Cultural Centre (ICC), Doha.
The programme paid tribute to Bharat Ratna M Visvesvaraya and his contributions to engineering, infrastructure and nation-building. Organised under the theme “Saluting the Visionaries Who Build the Future”, it brought together engineers, community leaders and representatives of Indian organisations in Qatar.
KSQ is an associated organisation of the ICC, which functions under the aegis of the Embassy of India in Doha.
Engineering contributions recognised
Al-Sayed, director of Engineers Without Borders – Qatar and a board member of the Qatar Society of Engineers, received the Abhiyantara Shree Award and attended as guest of honour. Doha-based Vikrant Patil was also honoured for his contributions to engineering. Both addressed the gathering.
Shubha Rao introduced the award recipients and presented their professional profiles.
Chief guest Harish Pandey, First Secretary for Education and Culture at the Embassy of India in Doha, was felicitated. He appreciated KSQ’s efforts to promote technical knowledge and honour the contributions of Indian personalities.
Technical presentations and tribute to Visvesvaraya
Guest speakers Kishore V, Sridhar Rao and Sudhir Akkathangerhal delivered technical presentations and shared professional insights. A video presentation highlighted Visvesvaraya’s legacy.
In his presidential address, KSQ president Subramanya Hebbagilu spoke about engineers’ role in modern infrastructure, social progress and community development.
Prashant Hiremath, KSQ’s Media, PR and Benevolent Secretary, delivered the opening remarks, while general secretary Sujith Kumar Hosdurga welcomed the dignitaries, speakers and attendees.
Those present included ICBF general secretary Deepak Shetty; Sandeep Reddy, Karnataka representative in the ICC Committee; KSQ advisory chairman Dr Ravi Shetty; and advisers Arunkumar, V S Mannangi, H K Madhu and Dr Sanjay Kudari. Representatives of ICC, ICBF and Karnataka-based community organisations in Qatar also attended.
KSQ vice-president Anil Bhasagi proposed the vote of thanks, acknowledging the Embassy of India, guests, organisers and community members. The programme concluded with a group photograph.
