Karnataka puts Turahalli tree park project on hold



In a major development, the Karnataka’s Forest minister Arvind Limbavali announced temporally stop the tree park (project) in the Turahalli reserve forest area.

The minister, on Wednesday visited Turahalli along with Local MLA ST Somshekar (who is also cooperative minister) and heard the grievances of the people who were protesting against the tree park project.

He said that the project is currently put on hold temporally and officials have been directed to fence the complete forest area. Moreover the tree park project at Turahalli was finalised in the year 2012.

“The public’s concern for saving the forest is really appreciated,” the minister said in the presence of protestors who opposed tree park project.

The park is part of the government’s Mission 2020 plan to develop 132 tree parks across the city.
