Karnataka On Edge With 10 New Covid Cases

Minister says 30,000 will be tested in next week

BENGALURU:

Wednesday was another grim reminder about the growing threat from Covid-19 to Karnataka, as the state registered yet another single-day high of 10 new positive cases.

Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar, who is in charge of Covid-19 related matters, announced the new figures after holding a review meeting with officials.

He said the Chief Secretary had called a meeting to review the situation. “I participated in the meeting and also looked into the establishment of more testing labs in the state. We are making arrangements to test around 25,000-30,000 in the next one week by setting up more labs,” he said.

Details of Wednesday’s are as follows:

From 24.03.2020 (5.00 PM) to 25-03-2020 (11.00 AM) Ten new cases have been confirmed in the state of Karnataka and the brief descriptions of the cases are follows:

P42: 37 year old Female, resident of Chitradurga, had a history of travel to Guyana and arrived to Bengaluru via Delhi on 20th march 2020. The case is isolated at designated hospital in Davangere.

P43: 63 year old male, resident of Bengaluru had a history of travel to South America-Brazil, Argentina and arrived to Bengaluru, India on 19th March 2020. The case is isolated and treated at designated hospital, Bengaluru.

P44: 59 year old Female, (wife of P43) resident of Bengaluru had a history of travel to Brazil(South America) and Argentina and arrived to Bengaluru, India on 19th March 2020. The case is isolated and treated at designated hospital, Bengaluru.

P45: 26 year old male, resident of Bengaluru had a history of travel to Spain and arrived to Bengaluru via Dubai, India on 14th March 2020. The case is isolated and treated at designated hospital, Bengaluru.

P46: 26 year old male, resident of Bengaluru had a history of travel to Spain and arrived to Bengaluru via Dubai, India on 14th March 2020. The case is isolated and treated at designated hospital, Bengaluru. (Note: P46 travelled with P45.)

P47: 63 year old Female, resident of Bengaluru had a history of travel to Athens and London and arrived to Bengaluru on 18th March 2020. The case is isolated and treated at designated
hospital, Bengaluru

P48: 69 year old male (husband of P47), resident of Bengaluru had a history of travel to Athens and London and arrived to Bengaluru on 18th March 2020. The case is isolated and treated at designated hospital, Bengaluru

P49: 9 year old girl, resident of Bengaluru and contact of P17 (daughter), is isolated at designated hospital in Bengaluru.

P50: 7 year old girl, resident of Bengaluru and contact of P17 (daughter), is isolated at designated hospital in Bengaluru.

P51: 34 year old male, resident of Udupi, returned from Dubai on 18.03.2020. The case is isolated at designated hospital in Udupi.

Note: Out of 51 cases detected and confirmed in Karnataka so far 6 cases are transit passengers of Kerala who have landed in airports and being treated in Karnataka. The details of their itinerary after arriving in Karnataka will be provided.

P42 patient resident of Chitradurga is hospitalized in Davangere and considered against Davangere.
