Bengaluru: Members of the Karnataka unit of the IAS Officers’ Association submitted a strong memorandum to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday (July 2), condemning BJP MLC N. Ravi Kumar’s “derogatory and defamatory” remarks against Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh .
Leading the delegation, Gaurav Gupta, President of the Karnataka IAS Officers’ Association, along with Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Secretary of the Association, presented the memorandum urging the government to seek a public and unconditional apology from the MLC, initiate legal proceedings, and table a resolution of censure in the Karnataka Legislative Council.
The Association expressed solidarity with the Chief Secretary and other officers, terming the remarks as vulgar and damaging to institutional dignity. It also recalled earlier communal statements allegedly made by the same MLC targeting the Deputy Commissioner of Kalaburagi, pointing to a disturbing pattern of vilification of civil servants.
Joint Secretary Khushboo Goel Chowdhary and Association member BB Cauvery were also present during the submission.
The memorandum stated: “Civil servants must be empowered to discharge their constitutional duties without fear or political intimidation.” It further urged the Chief Minister to uphold the dignity of the civil services by taking “prompt and exemplary action” against such conduct.
