Karnataka Covid tally now 474

Hongasandra ward in Bengaluru has become a raging hotspot after 11 more positive cases were reported on Friday. Now, Hongasandra alone has 21 positive Covid-19 cases, and the numbers may go up even more as more than 150 persons are still under the scanner.
More than 300 houses in the locality are under watch and none of the occupants is allowed to step out.
Sources in the health department said samples of 50 persons were collected out of which five turned out positive, while the results of the others are awaited.Â
ASHA workers under the supervision of BBMP officials surveyed individual homes on Friday to check the number of people staying in each house.
Bengaluru reports 19 new cases
Meanwhile, 29 positive cases were reported on Friday in Karnataka, of which 19 cases are from both Hongasandra ward and Padarayanapura and other parts of Bengaluru city.
Apart from the 16 cases in the two localities, one more positive case was reported in Bengaluru’s KR Puram with symptoms of ILI while another two SARI cases have been reported from Bengaluru Urban. Two cases each reported from Belagavi and Vijayapura, three from Bagalkot, while one case each was reported in Chikkaballapur, Mandya and Tumkur districts.
While one patient in Tumkur has a travel history to Gujarat, all the other patients are contacts of those who were tested positive earlier. The total number of Covid-19 positive cases in Karnataka now stands at 474, including 18 deaths and 150 discharged.
