Bengaluru: A major township development project on the outskirts of Bengaluru has received approval from the state-level committee, marking a significant step in urban expansion plans in the region.

The proposal was cleared during a high-level meeting, with Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil endorsing the decision. The project is planned in parts of Bengaluru South district and Ramanagara taluk, and is expected to be developed as a large-scale township.

The township will come up across designated areas including villages in the Harohalli region and adjoining localities. Authorities said the project aims to create planned residential zones with modern infrastructure, addressing the growing housing demand around Bengaluru.

Officials confirmed that land acquisition for the project will be carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. Landowners will be provided fair compensation, along with rehabilitation and resettlement benefits as mandated by law.

The project is also expected to factor in environmental considerations, urban planning norms, and sustainable development practices while executing the township.

With Bengaluru expanding rapidly, the initiative is seen as part of a broader strategy to decongest the city and promote planned growth in surrounding regions.
