BENGALURU:
Department of Information and Public Relations Commissioner Dr P Harsha on Saturday said the state government had launched a health insurance scheme for accredited journalists. “All journalists should get insured as a safety measure,” said Harsha.
Under the Ayushman Bharat-Karnataka project, the Chief Minister has launched a health card for accredited journalists through the DIPR.

“A journalist’s family is entitled to Rs 5 lakh a year for healthcare. All DIPR officers have been instructed to issue Ayushman cards to all eligible journalists in the state,” Harsha said.
In addition, a bus pass facility for accredited journalists and a monthly pension for retired qualified journalists are also available.
DIPR officials KP Puttaswamaiah, NS Mahesh and Hemavathi J, and journalist Prasanna Kumar were present.
