Bengaluru: Universities and academic institutions across India can submit student studio projects addressing Bengaluru’s urban challenges to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) by January 15, 2027. The projects must use Bengaluru as their study area or project context.
Proposals may work at the scale of a street, neighbourhood, precinct, corridor, city or metropolitan region. Institutions must compile the required 12 sections into a single presentation of less than 50 MB, following the prescribed slide limit and format.
Seven areas of interest
- Street and mobility projects: complete streets, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, junction improvements and mobility corridors.
- Neighbourhood planning: regeneration, walkability and local improvements.
- Master plans and development plans: city, regional and strategic spatial planning.
- Local area plans: precinct planning, area improvement and regeneration.
- Transit-oriented development: station-area planning, multimodal integration and last-mile connectivity.
- Placemaking and public spaces: plazas, parks, markets, streets and civic spaces.
- Environmental and climate resilience: blue-green infrastructure, lakes, ecological networks and climate-resilient urban development.

Institutions should email the projects in the prescribed format to cepacgba2025@gmail.com and gbaurbandesigncell@gmail.com. All 12 sections must be in one presentation, with the file size below 50 MB.
Selection does not guarantee implementation
Selected projects may be invited to present their proposals to GBA. Relevant professionals may then examine their technical and practical feasibility. Where appropriate, proposals may be considered for further development and potential implementation, subject to applicable requirements and approvals.
GBA said the initiative aims to connect academic research, analysis and design with the city’s evolving urban challenges, bringing student and faculty work to practitioners and government stakeholders.
