Karnataka tally jumps to 359
BENGALURU:
The dreaded coronavirus infection is setting new ‘records’ in Karnataka virtually every day. Till Friday evening, 44 positive cases were recorded for a new single-day high, taking the state’s total tally to 359.
There was a small respite for Belagavi — the district had topped Thursday’s table with 17 cases, but on Friday evening around five positive cases were reported.
It was once again Mysuru and Bengaluru which have played a major role in Friday’s spike. Bellary has also ‘contributed’ with 7 new cases.
As per the health department’s afternoon media bulletin, the new cases are Bengaluru (10), Mysuru (12), Mandya (3), Dakshina Kannada (1), Bidar (1), Vijayapura (2), Bellary (7) and Chikkaballapur (3).

The bulletin also claims that 6 Bengaluru contacts who have been infected with the deadly virus are yet to be traced, while one female positive case is infected with SARI.
This apart, Mysuru’s hotspot — the Nanjangud pharmacy company — has reported 11 new positive cases and all of them are contacts of the company’s first case, patient 52, while one 41-year-old female case from Mysuru is a contact of patient 273.
