APL cardholders to get 10 kg rations
BENGALURU:
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Gopalaiah on Friday announced that APL cardholders as well as those who have applied for the APL card will be given 10 kg rations from Saturday during the lockdown period.Â
Addressing the media, he said, “Our department has decided to give rations for APL cardholders and also for those who have applied for the ration card. They can show the receipt for the application.”
According to the department, 1,19,000 new applications for the APL card have been received. All cardholders and new applicants will get 10 kg of rice for Rs 15. Also 1, 89,000 applicants for BPL cards will get the rations and 10 kg of free rice.Â
“The Central and state governments have taken steps to distribute these rations for April, May and June. This will cost the state government and the Centre Rs 148 crore each. Also, 3 months of LPG gas cylinders have been approved and distribution will start in a few days,” Gopalaiah said.Â
As per the department, a total of 8,27,000 families will benefit from the rations.Â
Regarding inflated prices of masks and sanitizers, the Weights and Measurements Department had registered cases against 373 outlets, and Rs 13 lakh in fines had been collected, he said.
