Five, including couple, held for honeytrapping businessman

Date:

BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested five people, including a couple, for honeytrapping a businessman and trying to extort money from him.

The arrested are Sabha, her husband Khaleem Mohamed, Obed Khan, Atheeq and Abdul Rakeeb. A case has been registered against them at the RR Nagar police station.

The victim and (right) the couple who are among the arrested.

Khaleem came in contact with businessman Mohammed Athaulla about two months ago and they had shared their mobile phone numbers. Later on, Khaleem contacted Athaulla and introduced Sabha saying that she is a widow and to be with her. Athaulla and Sabha even had physical relations on a few occasions and on December 14, she called him to RR Nagar and asked him to bring his Aadhaar card along to book a room in a hotel.

The duo met at a lodge in RR Nagar.

As per the plan, when the two were together, Obed Khan arrived there and created a scene. He then called Khaleem, Rakeeb and Atheeq to the spot and they threatened Athaulla saying that they would disclose about the affair to his family. They then took Rs 4,000 from his person and demanded Rs 6 lakh.

However, as luck would have it, the CCB team arrived even as the drama was going on and arrested the accused.
