He was part of a group walking all the way back to Jharkhand

A migrant worker from Jharkhand died of sheer exhaustion on the National Highway near Belagavi on Thursday. Babulal Singh, 46, was part of a 12-member group that had decided to walk all the way back to their home state in the absence of any transport assistance from the authorities. He was working on a road construction project at Khanapur in Belagavi district.
Belagavi SP Laxman Nimbargi said, “11 labourers from Jharkhand were working on the Mumbai-Goa NH road construction project. They started their journey home on May 5 from Khanapur and today they were found at the Chikkodi checkpost. As per protocol, they were taken the Chikkodi government hospital for health screening. A person by name Babulal Singh, aged 46 years, died in the hospital. A UDR will be registered and his family in Jharkhand intimated.”
Nimbargi added, “They were not in any of our government shelters. They were staying in the VIPL company shelters in Khanapur.”
