Mangaluru flights to Mumbai, Chennai cancelled

60 departures, 54 arrivals slotted at KIA

BENGALURU:

After nearly two months, domestic air travel has resumed in Karnataka and Kempegowda International Airport expects  60 departures and 54 arrivals through Monday.

As per airport sources, 5 arrivals and 17 departures happened till 9 am. The first flight out was an Air Asia aircraft to Ranchi that departed at around 5:30 am with about 176 passengers, while the first arrival was a flight from Chennai at about 7:35 am with around 113 passengers.

Mangaluru no-show

Meanwhile, all Mangaluru-Chennai and Mangaluru-Mumbai flights were cancelled on Monday due to lack of passengers.

This apart, daytime Mangaluru-Bengaluru flights were cancelled. However, the evening flights — IndiGo at 7:35 pm from Mangaluru to Bengaluru and SpiceJet flight at 9:50 pm from Mangaluru to Bengaluru — will operate.

Belagavi flight from Bengaluru

There were eight passengers on the Star Air Bengaluru-Belagavi flight which landed at 8.25 am, while the Belagavi-Ahmedabad took off with nine passengers at 9.05 am.

Compulsory quarantine

The Karnataka government has said that people coming from the high-risk states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will have to undergo paid institutional quarantine for 7 days, followed by 7 days’ home quarantine.

Other flyers have to follow 14 days of home quarantine.

Home quarantine is allowed for pregnant women, children below the age of 10, senior citizens below the age of 80, and terminally ill patients along with one attendant, provided their test comes negative.
