The discharge from the KRS Dam into the Cauvery basin has been drastically reduced, from 74,000 cusecs to 3,000 cusecs, due to reduced rainfall. At 121.22 feet, the dam level is still 4 feet from the maximum level of 124.80 feet.

On Tuesday, inflow was 40,794 cusecs, outflow 3,575 cusecs, and water storage was 44.479 tmc ft as against the maximum capacity of 49.50 tmc ft.

People living near the Krishna river are relieved as the amount of water discharged from the Basavasagar reservoir has been reduced from 1.50 lakh cusecs in Monday to 25,670 cusecs on Tuesday.

The Basavasagar reservoir has a current inflow of 400,000 cusecs, a total storage capacity of 29 tmc ft and a maximum level of 491.45 metres.
