Covid test compulsory for reporters covering assembly session

Govt has organized testing camp for media at Vidhana Soudha on Sept 19 

BENGALURU:

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Assembly Secretariat has taken precautions to ensure the safety of not only legislators and officers on legislature duty but also media representatives covering the monsoon session.  

Print and electronic media reporters who have media passes and are assigned to cover the session have been requested to undergo an RT-PCR test on or after September 18. They can take the test at any government hospital or government medical institution.

D P Muralidhar, joint director, Department of  Information and Public Relations, said, “The Assembly Secretariat has  organised a special camp for media persons to take the RT-PCR test on Saturday, September 19, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Banquet Hall of Vidhana Soudha.” 

Only if the test result is negative will media persons be allowed inside the Assembly precincts. Media persons should come with their media passes issued by the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and a Covid-negative certificate.
