New Delhi/Bengaluru: Union Minister Pralhad Joshi on Friday dismissed Congress leader Priyank Kharge’s remarks about banning the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) if the Congress comes to power, calling it a “desperate and delusional statement” that reflects the party’s disconnect from ground realities.
Joshi said, “This is not the first time such rhetoric has been floated. Indira Gandhi attempted to ban the RSS during the Emergency and failed. Pandit Nehru also tried and had to roll back the move after a commission found no basis for it. These are not new threats—just recycled rhetoric from a party losing relevance.”

Taking aim at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s son, Joshi remarked, “If Priyank Kharge is dreaming of banning the RSS when Congress returns to power, it only shows their political frustration. The truth is, Congress returning to power is a distant dream, and they know it.”
Highlighting the ideological divide, Joshi said the Congress’s left-leaning worldview has been rejected by the Indian electorate. “The people of India—and even around the world—have embraced the BJP’s forward-looking ideology. Instead of fantasising about a return to power, Congress should introspect and fix its internal collapse,” he added.
