15 cases reported; water samples sent for testing
At a time when there is public panic over Covid-19, cholera too has raised its head in Bengaluru. The health department has confirmed cases of cholera from Koramangala and other localities. BBMP’s public health wing has started awareness programmes on drinking water safety in the affected areas.
Speaking to the media, BK Vijendra, chief health officer, BBMP, said, “A total of 15 cases have been reported from three zones and w e have sent water samples to the Public Health Institute for testing. There is a possibility of sewage getting mixed with drinking water. But the public has nothing to worry about because we will act immediately once the report of the water tests is received.”
Around 15 cases from the East, West and South of the city have been reported.
