Bengaluru: Bengaluru Central City Corporation Additional Commissioner (Development) Venkatachalapathi R on Tuesday inspected Ward One campaign works on 9th Main Road, 2nd Block, Jayanagar, in Kanakanapalya (Ward 38) of Chickpet division, and told officials to replace damaged footpath blocks, rebuild a fully damaged footpath on one side and complete all works on time with quality.
Directions to officials
- Replace damaged footpath blocks properly, and rebuild in full the footpath that is completely damaged on one side.
- Do not pour cement concrete around trees on footpaths, and let rainwater reach the roots.
- Clear litter on footpaths immediately and take steps to stop it being dumped again.
- Remove damaged bollards (iron posts) that keep vehicles off footpaths and install strong new ones.
- Clear soil from roadside shoulder drains so rainwater flows into the drains, and remove tree branches that fell near Madhavan Park after wind and rain.
Asphalting and street lights near NIMHANS
At the road near NIMHANS Hospital, the additional commissioner reviewed asphalting of about 2 km on one side. He said shoulder drains must be maintained during asphalting, work on the other side should start at the earliest, and excess soil on the roadside must be cleared after asphalting and cleaning so pedestrians can move easily.
Inspecting the installation of street lights on the same road, he asked officials to follow safety measures, avoid traffic congestion and recheck the lights’ brightness and working at night.
Potholes, black spots and cables
He told officials to fill potholes scientifically and with quality, clear garbage black spots fully and take permanent steps to stop garbage building up again. He also asked for unauthorised optical fibre (OFC) cables that obstruct roads and footpaths to be removed, and for works not to inconvenience the public or spoil the city’s appearance.
Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Superintending Engineer Chandrashekar, assistant executive engineers and other officials were present.
