Cabinet Approves Governor’s Suspension of KPSC Chairman, Says D.K. Shivakumar
Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Saturday said the State Cabinet has endorsed Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s decision to suspend the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) Chairman Shivashankarappa S Sahukar.
Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Shivakumar said the matter was placed before the Cabinet, which examined the Governor’s decision in detail before expressing its approval.
He said the Cabinet reviewed the relevant records and found the Governor’s action to be in order.
Responding to a question on whether the Cabinet’s approval was linked to proceedings before the court, Shivakumar said there was no such necessity. He said while there may be court orders on the matter, it was the government’s responsibility to place its own opinion before the court.
