Bengaluru West City Corporation clamps 22 abandoned vehicles, clears 3.08 km of footpath encroachments
Bengaluru, July 15: The Bengaluru West City Corporation said it is continuing a joint drive with the Traffic Police Department to clear abandoned vehicles from roads and other public spaces within Corporation limits, following the order of Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and the directions of Bengaluru West City Corporation Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K.V.
According to the press release, the process of pasting notices and wheel-clamping abandoned vehicles is currently in progress as part of the drive.
The Corporation said that on July 15, a total of 22 abandoned vehicles were pasted with notices and wheel-clamped within its limits. These included one three-wheeler and 21 four-wheelers.
Of the 22 vehicles, 10 were identified in Mahalakshmipura division, five in Malleshwaram division, and seven in Rajajinagar division, including one three-wheeler, the release said.
The Corporation also said that a footpath encroachment clearing drive is under way to facilitate safe and smooth movement of the public. On July 15, it said, 3.08 km of encroachment was cleared.
As part of the operation carried out in Rajarajeshwarinagar and Kengeri divisions, the Corporation said it cleared 40 petty shops, 14 pushcarts, one AC sheets projection or canopy, two steps and ramps, 20 advertising pillars and boards, and 8.5 tons of construction waste and debris.
The release said the encroachment clearance in Rajarajeshwarinagar division covered the stretch from Koolinagar Bridge to Nandini Layout Bus Stop, spanning 1 km.
In Kengeri division, the drive covered BDA 100 Feet Road from Sonnenahalli Circle to BWSSB Water Tank Road, BGS Back Gate Mailasandra, and Hosahalli Main Road from Magadi Road to D Group Arch Road, covering 2.08 km, according to the Corporation.
