Bengaluru: More than 180 stalls showcasing handicrafts and traditional products made by artisans from minority communities across Karnataka will be brought under one roof at a five-day “Karnataka Parva-2026” in Bengaluru, with the state government seeking to create wider markets and direct customer access for their products.

The Minority Welfare Department will organise the event from September 26 to 30 at Tripuravasini, Palace Grounds, Minister for Minority Welfare, Haj and Waqf and Health and Family Welfare U.T. Khader said.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will inaugurate Karnataka Parva-2026 at 11 am on September 26. Ministers, legislators and chairpersons of boards and corporations are expected to attend the inaugural programme.

Announcing details of the event at a press conference held at the Directorate of Minorities in Maulana Azad Bhavan, Khader said the initiative is intended to promote the art, skills, handicraft products and entrepreneurship of artisans belonging to minority communities.

Direct Market Access for Artisans

A key focus of Karnataka Parva will be to bring artisans and consumers together directly.

Artisans from different parts of Karnataka will display distinctive handicrafts and traditional products at more than 180 stalls, providing them with a common platform to showcase their work and reach a broader market.

The government intends the event to go beyond a conventional exhibition by helping artisans build sustainable market opportunities and strengthen their economic self-reliance.

E-Commerce and Digital Marketing Training

The five-day programme will also focus on helping artisans adapt their businesses to contemporary markets.

Training and interactive sessions will be organised on e-commerce, digital marketing, modern business practices, industry linkages, market expansion and business networking.

The sessions are aimed at improving artisans’ knowledge of new methods of reaching customers and developing their enterprises alongside their traditional skills.

The department said Karnataka Parva is intended to encourage entrepreneurship among artisans while helping preserve traditional art and skills for future generations.

Handicrafts, Culture and Food Under One Roof

Along with the exhibition and sale of handicraft products, the event will feature cultural programmes and a food festival.

The government plans to showcase Karnataka’s diversity in art, culture and food traditions on a single platform during the five-day event.

The programme is being organised with the stated objective of strengthening artisans’ economic independence, encouraging entrepreneurship, preserving traditional arts and skills and creating sustainable markets for their products.

The theme behind the initiative is to ensure that art survives, skills grow and artisans’ livelihoods prosper.

With the message “Karnataka Parva — On the Path to Self-Reliance,” the event is also being positioned as a platform to celebrate Karnataka’s cultural diversity and the talent of its artisans.

Khader appealed to the public, art enthusiasts, entrepreneurs, traders and young people to participate in large numbers and support artisans by viewing and purchasing their products.

Minority Welfare Department Secretary Manoj Zain, Director Yasmin Valikar, Joint Director Pundalik Anawal and Managing Director Sheikh Latheep were present at the press conference.
