Bengaluru Shock: Burglar Steals Gold, Silver and Cash Worth ₹45 Lakh in Bagalagunte, Police Alert Residents
Bengaluru: A notorious burglar active in the city has struck again, looting valuables worth nearly ₹45 lakh from a house in Bagalagunte’s Ramayya Layout, leaving residents shocked and police on high alert.
According to police, the burglar used a unique modus operandi—unscrewing door locks without breaking them—to gain entry. Once inside, he stole 300 grams of gold jewellery, silver articles worth ₹10 lakh, and ₹3 lakh in cash before escaping.
The theft occurred when the family had travelled out of town to attend a relative’s funeral. The victims revealed that valuables and cash had been stored at home for their son’s upcoming wedding. “Everything—gold, silver, and cash worth nearly ₹50 lakh—was looted. This is a huge blow for a middle-class family preparing for a wedding,” said a distraught family member.
Residents allege that police night beats and patrolling have drastically reduced in the area, making homes easy targets for burglars. Locals recalled that earlier, police checkpoints and regular patrols kept crime in check, but such security measures are now missing.
Residents have urged authorities to increase night patrolling, strengthen beat systems, and set up alert points to ensure safety in older residential areas. Police have registered an FIR at Bagalagunte Police Station and launched an investigation.
