Bengaluru riots: Toll rises to 3

The death toll in the DJ Halli and KJ Halli riots has gone up to 3 as one of those injured in the police firing died in a hospital on Wednesday. The person, around 40, is yet to be identified.

The two persons who died in the police firing have been identified as Wajid Khan (20) and Yaseen Pasha (20).

Speaking to news agency ANI, city police commissioner Kamal Pant confirmed the three deaths and added that nearly 60 policemen had been injured in stone-throwing by the rioters. 

Pant said three areas — Kaval Byrasandra, DJ Halli and KJ Halli — were affected and that the rioters had vandalised vehicles parked inside the KJ Halli police station. 

He said the situation was under control and that some persons were injured in the police firing.The police were attacked with stones and bottles and the situation demanded police firing, he said. “The curfew is now in force and no one is out on the roads,” Pant said.
