5 killed in fire on bus en route to Bengaluru
CHITRADURGA:
Five passengers, including 2 children, died after a bus caught fire and burst into flames on Wednesday morning near KR village in Hiriyur taluk.
The private bus (KA 51 AD 7449) belonging to Kukkeshree Travels was going from Bijapur to Bengaluru. The incident occurred on the Pune-Bengaluru National Highway. There were over 35 passengers on the bus.
The passengers tried to get out as soon as the bus caught fire. Some of them have been admitted to the Hiriyur taluk hospital. The 5 victims are yet to be identified.
The police and firefighters rushed to the spot to try and extinguish the fire. The bus was completely burnt, the police said.
