Bengaluru: In a chilling incident that shocked the city, a 46-year-old rowdy-sheeter named Shivakumar alias Bikkalu Shiva was brutally murdered near Sagar Hotel, Halasuru, on Monday evening around 8:20 PM. The assailants, who arrived in a car, launched a deadly attack just outside the victim’s residence before fleeing the scene.
Shivakumar, who had 11 criminal cases registered against him at Bharati Nagar Police Station, was hacked to death with lethal weapons. Police say the assailants inflicted over 40 stab wounds, including more than 20 blows to his head, as confirmed in the postmortem report.
Initial reports indicate that a gang of 7-8 men arrived in a vehicle, dragged Shivakumar out, and carried out the brutal murder. The forensic team found multiple deep wounds on his chest, back, and skull, with the severity of the head injuries suggesting he was targeted with extreme brutality.

Top officials including DCP D. Devaraj and Joint Commissioner Ramesh Banu visited the scene. The body was shifted to Bowring Hospital for a postmortem, which revealed horrifying details: 15 injuries on the back, 8 on the chest, and severe lacerations on the skull and neck, indicating deliberate mutilation.
As the investigation progressed, Bharati Nagar Police took five people into custody, including a key suspect named Vimal. The search for other accused is ongoing.
The BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj has been named as Accused No. 5 in the FIR, further intensifying the political ramifications of the case.
An FIR has been registered under relevant sections, and a special team is actively pursuing leads. Police sources say gang rivalry or personal enmity may have led to this gruesome killing. Investigation continues.
