Bengaluru cops tap CSR funds for rations to needy

DCP Nisha James says 3,000 ration kits will be distributed

BENGALURU:

The city police have taken an innovative route to provide essentials for needy migrant families — approaching public and private companies to donate from their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. They have till now collected enough resources for 3,250 ration kits.

DCP (Administration) Nisha James said, “Funds for more than 3,000 ration kits for migrant labour families, raised through CSR, will be distributed in the coming days all across Bengaluru. We are distributing one month’s ration in the Central, West and South-East divisions today and tomorrow.”

The CSR donors and the number of kits sponsored are:  BEL – 1300 kits, BIAL- 500 kits, HPCL – 325 kits, GAIL GAS – 285, IBM – 255 kits, Medreich – 250 kits, MRPL – 250 kits, JJ Consultants – 120 kits, Indian Oil – 100 kits, Toyota – 100 kits and Pixel – 50 kits, adding up to a total of 3,250 kits.

The items included in the one-month ration kit are: Atta -10 kg, Rice – 5 kg, Toor Dal – 2 kg, Green Moong Dal- 1 kg, Yellow Moong Dal – 1 kg, Cooking oil – 2 litres, Salt – 1kg, Sugar – 2 kg, Sambar powder – 200 gm, Coriander powder – 200 gm, Chilly powder – 200 gm, Turmeric powder – 200 gm, Tea powder – 500 gm, Jeera – 200 gm, Potato – 2 kg, Onion – 2 kg, Bathing soap -1, Cloth washing soap – 1, Dishwashing soap – 1 and toothpaste – 200 gm.
