5 doses seized
On Friday, PSI Vinayak and his team had arrested two people near Sanjeevani Hospital at Mahalaxmi Layout for selling Remdesivir at inflated prices. The cops had seized 5 doses of the antiviral drug, 2 mobile phones, 1 two-wheeler and Rs 6,000 in cash.
The police said that one of the accused, Nagesh, had confessed that he had taken Remdesivir from a friend — the drug was meant for the latter’s Covid-infected father who had later died — to sell at a higher price.
In another incident, the Shrirampura police arrested Nayaz Ahmed near Bandireddy Circle, Ashirwad Nursing Home, where he had allegedly come to sell Remdesivir.
It is said that the accused were selling a single Remdesivir dose for Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.
A case has been registered against the accused at the Mahalaxmi Layout and Srirampura police stations.
