Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Central City Corporation has fined three encroachers a total of ₹25,000 in a special drive against footpath encroachments in the Jeevan Bheema Nagar ward area, Commissioner Jagadish G said.
Officials acted on the spot against those who had illegally encroached on footpaths and obstructed public movement. One person was fined ₹5,000 and two others ₹10,000 each.
They also told encroachers that footpaths are meant only for public movement. Instructions were issued to keep footpaths pedestrian-friendly, so that the public, particularly senior citizens, children and persons with disabilities, can move around safely.
The Corporation will continue the drive in other areas under its jurisdiction in the coming days, the Commissioner said. He warned that illegal encroachments obstructing public movement will be removed without leniency, and that fines and legal action will follow as per the rules.
