Bengaluru Central City Corporation Orders Survey and Removal of Dilapidated Buildings, Compound Walls Ahead of Monsoon
Bengaluru, May 11: Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner Rajendra Cholan has directed officials to identify and remove dilapidated buildings and unsafe compound walls across the corporation limits to ensure public safety ahead of the monsoon season.
Chairing a progress review meeting with engineering and revenue department officials, the commissioner instructed authorities to prepare a comprehensive list of government and private properties with structurally weak or dangerous buildings and compound walls and initiate urgent action for their removal.
Permanent Solutions for Flood-Prone Areas
Emphasising monsoon preparedness, Cholan directed officials to identify low-lying and flood-prone locations where rainwater accumulation is a recurring problem. He instructed departments to take immediate measures to ensure smooth drainage of rainwater and develop permanent solutions to prevent waterlogging in vulnerable areas.
Complete Drain Desilting Works at the Earliest
The commissioner also reviewed ongoing drain-cleaning operations and instructed officials to expedite the desilting of roadside drains across the city corporation limits. He stressed that all works should be completed before the onset of the peak monsoon period to ensure the free flow of rainwater and minimise flooding risks.
Accelerate Road Development Works
Rajendra Cholan directed officials to speed up the completion of ongoing asphalt and cement concrete road projects and ensure that quality roads are made available for public use at the earliest.
He further instructed departments to resolve all bottlenecks affecting road-laying works, prevent the formation of potholes and immediately repair potholes that have already developed on city roads.
Senior officials, including Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers and Revenue Officers, attended the meeting.
