Assistant Director-Town Planning Devendrappa was caught accepting Rs 20-lakh bribe on Feb 5
BENGALURU:
BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad has suspended the Town Planning Department’s Assistant Director SN Devendrappa after he was trapped by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths while accepting a Rs 20-lakh bribe for issuing an occupancy certificate. In the follow-up raid, around 480 official files were recovered from his house.
Bommanahalli zone’s Joint Commissioner was asked to submit a report after Devendrappa was trapped on February 5. The report was placed before the Commissioner on February 8.
As per the report, Devendrappa had reported to Bommanahalli zone on June 1, 2020 and he was drawing his salary from the office of the Executive Engineer-Projects, Bommanahalli while working additionally as Assistant Director-Town Planning in Bommanahalli zone.
The report also mentioned that Devendrappa was arrested on February 5 at 6 pm and that, as per KCSR rules, if any employee is kept under arrest for more than 48 hours, he should be kept under suspension.
