344 rain-hit families get Rs 25K each
BENGALURU:
As promised by Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, the civic administration acted immediately and gave Rs 25,000 each to Hosakerehalli’s 344 rain-affected families — for a total of Rs 86 lakh in compensation.
Revenue Minister R Ashoka and BBMP Administrator Gaurav Gupta issued compensation cheques to affected residents of Dattatreya Layout in Hosakerehalli (ward 161), which was flooded due to heavy rains and storm water drains overflowing onto the streets.
As per NDRF guidelines, compensation of Rs 3,000 is given in such cases. But as the rains had caused considerable damage to private property, the CM took an impromptu decision to grant Rs 25,000 as compensation to each affected family.
