Employees of all business establishments must get at least first jab by August 31: BBMP Special Commissioner (Health) Randeep

BENGALURU:

BBMP Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta has stressed that in order to control the transmission of Covid-19, all employees of commercial establishments, industries, hotels and restaurants, and offices must be vaccinated. This will make the city safer and people can carry on their daily activities without fear, he said.

Speaking on Friday at a virtual meeting with members of various business organisaitons, Gupta stated that 74% of all Bengalureans have got the first dose of the vaccine while 26% have got the second dose. All eligible persons must get themselves vaccinated to contain the spread of the virus in Bengaluru, he stressed.

Special camp for 50+

Everyday, 400-plus vaccines are being supplied to each of the 198 wards in the city on priority and 80,000-90,000 people are being vaccinated daily. There is enough vaccine stock in the city, Gupta said, and requested people to get their jab at the nearest primary health centre. For those above 50 years, a special vaccination camp will be set up by BBMP, he said.

Special Commissioner (Health) Randeep D said that at least the first dose of vaccination must be given to staff of commercial establishments, industries, hotels and restaurants, and offices (except those found medically ineligible). Staff working in establishments in highly populated areas with a large customer footfall should be vaccinated on priority, he said.

All employees must be vaccinated before August 31, Randeep stressed. If people are found violating Covid protocols, they will be counselled first, and if violations persist, fines will be imposed, he said.
