Bengaluru woman is an alleged drug trafficker and reportedly lives with African national

BENGALURU:

Acting on specific information, officers of the NCB-Bengaluru zonal unit intercepted a parcel from Germany containing MDMA crystals at the Electronics City Post Office on Thursday. Two packets of 500 grams each of the drug were concealed in the sides of a carton. The carton also contained a sandwich grill, a flexible mirror, a medicure and pedicure set, two table tennis bats and two pouches of chocolates.

As per a press note by Amit Ghawate, zonal director, NCB-Bengaluru, following a vigil, the person who was to received the parcel, one Yogita S, a resident of Bengaluru, was apprehended. According to the sleuths, she confessed that she was trafficking in drugs in Bengaluru for the last three years, and that she was peddling drugs in other south Indian cities too. She is reportedly living with an African individual in Bengaluru.

According to the NCB, the inflow of MDMA crystals hidden in courier and speed post parcels booked through the dark net has gained momentum during the Covid pandemic. MDMA crystals are popular at rave parties and among youngsters. The prolonged use of the drug increases the levels of serotonin in the brain and can be fatal.
