State sees 3,649 fresh cases, 61 deaths; worrying recovery rate of 35.82%

Within hours of Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa saying on Tuesday that there would be no further lockdown in Bengaluru or elsewhere in the state, Karnataka recorded 3,649 fresh Covid cases and 61 deaths. The state’s recovery rate is now 35.82% .
Bengaluru saw a single-day record of 1,714 cases, while 22 deaths on Tuesday took the city’s mortality rate to 2.06 %, the same as the state.

As per the details released by Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar, the state witnessed 1,664 discharges in the last 24 hours, with Bengaluru accounting for 520 discharges followed by 201 in Bengaluru Rural, 114 in Udupi, 108 in Shivamogga and 102 in Vijayapura.
The recovery rate for Bengaluru stands at 21.39%, and the city has 26,746 active cases. The state as a whole has 44,140 active cases.
As per the government bulletin, 583 patients statewide and 336 in Bengaluru are in ICUs. The ICU figures for other districts are: 32 in Kalaburagi, 23 in Dharwad, 19 in Ballari, 17 in Mandya, 17 in Raichur, 16 in Gadag, 12 each in Hassan and Mysuru, 11 each in Bidar and Tumkur, 9 in Belagavi, and 8 each in Chamarajanagar and Davanagere.
