Bengaluru: Blackie, Brownie, Rosie and Spots have survived a difficult start to life, but a permanent home is still proving elusive. After five months of looking for adopters, their rescuer in Yelahanka is appealing to Bengaluru families to give the four Indie puppies homes of their own.
Priyanka Baranwal says she rescued six puppies from her locality about eight months ago. Two, Paws and Bunny, died of parvovirus. The surviving four are now about eight to nine months old.
According to Baranwal, the puppies have been vaccinated and are healthy and playful. Three have been sterilised, while the fourth is scheduled for neutering in about two weeks.
Baranwal already has two Indie dogs, taking the number of dogs in her care to six. She says managing their daily needs has become increasingly difficult and she wants the puppies to receive the individual attention that permanent families can offer.
For the past five months, she has tried Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Reddit, word of mouth and other channels to find suitable adopters, but has not yet found the right homes.
The adoptions are free and open to families within Bengaluru only. Her adoption process includes a mandatory home visit to help ensure the puppies go to safe, suitable homes.
