Samyukta Hornad makes up for civic apathy by fixing shoddy footpath in Jayanagar

Irresponsible corporators, conscientious citizens. That describes best the story of a dilapidated footpath in Jayanagar, neglected by elected representatives and officials for years, and patched up in just a day by a civic-minded actress and friends.
With the five-year term of BBMP corporators ending on September 10, and civic accountability in a limbo, actress Samyukta Hornad, who is known for her animal activism, took it upon herself to fix the footpath near the Jayanagar 4th block bus stand. Along with other volunteers, she cleared the place of the waste and debris that was obstructing pedestrian movement.
Samyukta tweeted, “Spot fixing: In and around 4th block most pavements are under repair, redoing and on contract with BBMP vendors. Most places there are heaps of debris creating ugly spots (hundreds of them).”
“This is one such spot opposite Jayanagar bus stand where a part built pavement has stone waste spread over. Nagesh Sidhanti casually invited those interested in clearing the spot and voilaaaaa. Looking for the next spot now. Please let us know. It makes for a great workout, ” she added.
