Minister Krishna Byre Gowda Launches Abandoned Vehicle Towing Drive in Gandhinagar Assembly constituency
Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Development Minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Saturday flagged off the symbolic launch of the abandoned vehicle towing drive near Varahi Temple in M.D. Block of the Gandhinagar Assembly constituency under the Central City Corporation limits of the Greater Bengaluru Authority.
According to data from the official ‘Astram’ software, traffic police have identified 2,751 abandoned vehicles, while members of the public have reported 1,498 vehicles. This has taken the total number of identified abandoned vehicles to 4,249.
Officials said notices have been affixed to 1,034 vehicles across the five city corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority. Owners of 72 vehicles have paid the prescribed penalty and reclaimed their vehicles.
Gandhinagar MLA Dinesh Gundu Rao, Central City Corporation Commissioner G. Jagadeesh, Additional Commissioner Venkata Chalapathi, Joint Commissioner Hemanth Sharan, Chief Engineer Vijay Kumar Haridas and other officials were present at the programme.
