Karnataka Gets New Intelligence Chief as Dr. Chandragupta Appointed IGP, Intelligence
Bengaluru, June 7: Senior IPS officer Dr. Chandragupta (2006 batch) has been appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Intelligence, Bengaluru, following a major reshuffle in the Karnataka Police Department.
Dr. Chandragupta, who was serving as Inspector General of Police, Security (Intelligence), has been transferred and posted as IGP, Intelligence with immediate effect.
He replaces Labhu Ram, IPS, who has been transferred.
The Karnataka Government has also declared the post of IGP, Intelligence equivalent in status and responsibilities to the cadre post of Inspector General of Police, Criminal Investigation Department under IPS Pay Rules.
The appointment comes at a crucial time as the Intelligence Wing continues to play a key role in monitoring internal security, law and order developments, and intelligence gathering across Karnataka.
