Bengaluru: The Excise Department has seized defence-quota liquor worth โน26 lakh within the limits of Bengaluru City District-3 (BUD-3) during enforcement operations conducted in January 2026, officials said.
The seizures were carried out under the guidance of the Excise Commissioner and the Joint Commissioner (Enforcement & Investigation), Bengaluru North Division, according to the Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Bengaluru City District-3.
January 1 Seizure โ Ullal Road, Jnanabharathi Zone
On January 1, 2026, excise officials conducted a raid in Zone-18, Jnanabharathi Circle, near Vidyadaniketan Public School, Ullal Road, Sir M.V. Railway Layout, Jnanagangangar, Ullal.
The operation was led by Excise Sub-Inspector Mallikarjun Reddy, along with Excise Inspectors Rangayya and Jasmanth P.V. During the raid, officials seized 40 bottles (30 litres) of defence-quota liquor being transported illegally.
A car was also seized, and the total value of the liquor and vehicle was estimated at โน9 lakh. A notice has been issued to the accused, S. Kiran (33), a resident of Jnanajyothinagar, directing him to appear for questioning.
January 24 Seizure โ NH-48, Kengeri Zone
In another operation on January 24, excise officials intercepted illegal transportation of defence liquor in Zone-17, Kengeri, near Madavara village, Dasanapura Hobli, on NH-48 (BengaluruโTumakuru road).
Officials seized 49 bottles (36.750 litres) of defence-quota liquor along with a vehicle. The total value of the seized liquor and vehicle was estimated at โน17 lakh. A notice has been issued to the accused, G. Govindaraj (27), a resident of Ballari.
Overall January Enforcement Summary
During January 2026, excise officials seized a total of 89 bottles (66.750 litres) of liquor reserved exclusively for defence personnel, along with two cars, amounting to a total value of โน26 lakh.
Two accused have been booked, and cases have been registered under the relevant provisions of the Excise Act, the department said.
