Bengaluru on High Alert for New Year 2026: 20,000 Cops Deployed, MG Road Metro to Shut at 10 PM
Bengaluru: With just days left to bid farewell to 2025 and welcome the New Year 2026, the Bengaluru City Police have gone on high alert, rolling out strict security guidelines to ensure peaceful and incident-free celebrations across the city.
Police authorities have issued a stern warning that public peace will not be compromised under any circumstances, cautioning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to create disturbances in the name of celebration.
“People are free to celebrate responsibly, but those who create trouble will not be spared. With extensive CCTV coverage and heavy police deployment, even minor offences will invite the strictest action,” a senior police official warned.
Curbs on Parties, Music and Drunk Driving
Clear restrictions have been imposed on hotels, pubs, clubs and resorts, including time limits for celebrations and regulated use of DJs and loudspeakers.
Police have banned drunk driving, illegal parties, dangerous stunts, rowdyism and unlawful gatherings, with intensified checks across major roads and nightlife zones.
Massive Security Deployment
To ensure safety, especially of women, the police have deployed over 20,000 personnel, supported by:
- 4,000 control room staff
- 78 watch towers
- CCTV surveillance, drones and advanced monitoring systems
- Increased women police patrols
The police have made it clear that any attempt to disturb law and order will be dealt with firmly and swiftly.
MG Road Metro Closure After 10 PM
Bengaluru Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has ordered the closure of MG Road Metro Station for entry and exit from 10:00 PM on December 31.
“Trains will not stop at MG Road station after 10 PM. Passengers can board or deboard at Trinity and Cubbon Park stations,” officials clarified, urging commuters to plan their travel accordingly.
Transport Arrangements After Midnight
To avoid inconvenience post-midnight, the police have coordinated with BMTC to operate additional buses after 12:00 AM.
Ride-hailing services such as Ola, Uber and Rapido have also been roped in to ensure sufficient availability of cabs and autos, based on lessons from previous years.
CM Reviews New Year Security
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also reviewed New Year security arrangements at a meeting held at Kaveri residence, instructing officials to prioritise women’s safety and ensure zero tolerance towards untoward incidents.
As Bengaluru gears up to welcome 2026, police have assured citizens that robust arrangements are in place across the city and the state, while making it clear that any mischief in the name of celebration will invite immediate action.
