BENGALURU:
Bengaluru city is facing a rash of Covid clusters in February as three fresh clusters have been reported in the last 3 days from Yelahanka in Bengaluru North. Two of these are in colleges while one is in a residential apartment, and the number of positive cases reported so far is 28.
As per the details shared by BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad, Sambhram Academy of Management Sciences in MS Palya has reported the largest number of 15 positive cases, while Agragami College in Yelahanka Satellite Town has reported 8 positive cases.
‘Positive’ on retest
Replying to a query by TheBengaluruLive, Prasad said all 23 students had arrived from Kerala with Covid-negative reports but they were found positive after they were retested. “As their CT value was less than 20, we haven’t sent their samples for genome testing,” he added.
The students of Sambhram Academy of Management Sciences started arriving from February 22 and their testing began the same day. Till February 25, around 1,156 were tested and a total of 15 were found infected with the virus. All the infected cases are asymptomatic and under quarantine.
Meanwhile, 8 students from Agragami College were reported positive on February 23 and February 24, of whom 3 have been admitted in the Yelahanka General Hospital.
Apartment couple in hospital
The third cluster — Purva Venezia Apartment near Mother Dairy, Yelahanka New Town — has reported 5 positives out of 111 tested. Of these, a couple has been admitted in Ramaiah Hospital and one individual in Aster Hospital.
