208 Maharashtra returnees among 248 new cases on Friday

One death in Bengaluru, state’s Covid-19 tally rises To 2,781

BENGALURU:

Returnees from Maharashtra continue to be a headache for Karnataka, with208 of the 248 Covid-19 positive cases reported on Friday coming from the country’s most prosperous state.

A total of 227 inter-state returnees to Karnataka have tested positive, while one passenger  from Ireland is also infected. Apart from Maharashtra, the other positive cases are returnees from New Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

As per the health department bulletin, Karnataka’s  tally is now 2,781.

Among Friday’s cases, Raichur saw the highest number of 62,  Yadgir had 60 and Kalaburagi reported 61.
Recently, Karnataka saw a major spike in cases in Udupi, Yadgir, Bengaluru Urban, Kalaburagi and Raichur.

Of the total case count, 1,837 are active while 894 have been discharged.

Chikkaballapur woman dies in Bengaluru

The Friday bulletin reported the death of a Chikkaballapur native in a Bengaluru hospital thus: “P-2762, 50 years, female patient, resident of Chikkaballapur district, case of RTA Head Injury on 24.05.2020. Was admitted to private hospital on 24.05.2020, and because of acute kidney injury and pneumonia, was shifted to designated hospital, Bengaluru Urban on 28.05.2020, and tested positive for Covid-19. Died on 29.05.2020.”
