BJP core committee picks Muniratna and Muniraju ; central panel to decide
BENGALURU:
With by-elections announced for the Rajarajeshwari Nagar assembly constituency, the BJP core committee on Thursday shortlisted two names — Muniratna who had quit the Congress and joined the BJP to ensure that BS Yediyurappa became the chief minister, and Tulasi Muniraju Gowda, a hard-core BJP worker who had challenged Muniratna’s election win in 2018.
Both names have been forwarded to the BJP central election committee.
The by-election for the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency was also discussed at the core committee meeting. Union minister Prahlad Joshi has been asked to report on the potential candidates, an insider said.
The names of three aspirants for the Sira assembly by-polls — SR Gowda, BK Manjunath and Rajesh Gowda — were also referred to the BJP central election committee.
