Bengaluru: An order has been issued to recruit 15,000 schoolteachers in Karnataka, the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office said in a post on Sunday, outlining education measures ranging from skills-based middle-school learning to professional-college opportunities for eligible rural government-school students.
The CMO reiterated plans to provide artificial intelligence training from Class 6 and said skills-based education had begun for Classes 6 to 8. The State had started 25,498 bilingual schools and established science laboratories in 250 government high schools, it said.

Corporate social responsibility funds are being used to develop government schools and give Karnataka Public Schools a new look, the CMO said. Describing government schools as central to the future of Kannada, it said their students had secured top ranks in SSLC and PUC examinations over the past three years.
7.5% provision for eligible rural government-school students
The CMO said a special 7.5% reservation in government seats in professional educational institutions had been provided for eligible students who studied in rural government schools from Classes 1 to 10 and subsequently in government pre-university colleges.
It said the measure was intended to expand opportunities in professional higher education, including medicine and engineering, and give rural government-school students an equal opportunity to use their talent.
Gramanubhava second phase to cover 2,500 students
The CMO also outlined the second phase of Gramanubhava, a one-day village-stay programme for students within Bengaluru and 10 municipal corporation areas. The phase will cover 2,500 government-school students, it said. Private schools have been told to conduct the programme at their own expense.
The programme aims to take learning beyond classrooms by introducing students to village life, agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, rural livelihoods and culture. It also seeks to build respect for farmers’ and workers’ labour, an understanding of the interdependence of villages and cities, and awareness of sustainable living.
