10 Corona free districts asked to conduct SARI, ILI tests

BENGALURU:

As the state count goes up to 371 positive cases by Saturday. A welcome relief for the state health authorities that Karnataka State has 10 out of 30 districts which are free of COVID-19 or Coronavirus infections with not a single case reported till April 18.

The 10 Corona free districts are Chamarajnagar, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, Koppal, Raichur, Ramanagar, Shuvamogga, Yadgiri, Hassan and Haveri. These untainted districts are designated as the ‘Green Zone’ and state authorities to ensure they remain free of the corona scourge.

On Saturday, Chief Secretary Vijay Bhaskar in his letter to all these district admin has asked to test 100 per dad for Severe Acute Respiratory illnes(SARI)/Influenza-like illness (ILI) for the next 3 days.

“The health department is instructing all these 10 districts to conduct 100 tests samples per day for SARI / ILI patients in the district limits. There is not a single cases reported from this districts which are a relief to the state, but on a safer note, we have taken this step to conduct random testing because people infected with the new Coronavirus may never show symptoms or fall ill, but can still transmit the illness to others. So these step is needed in this situation” Vijay Bhaskar letter reads. 

The district administration have asked to conduct 100 test per day and then subsequently, 50 per day will continue to be tested in these 10 districts.
