Yesvantpur–Shivamogga Express Gets Festival Extension to Talguppa; 10 Trains Diverted From October 16
Bengaluru: Passengers travelling from Yesvantpur towards Shivamogga during Dasara and Deepavali will have a temporary direct connection to Talguppa, with South Western Railway (SWR) extending the Yesvantpur–Shivamogga Town Tri-Weekly Express for 11 trips in each direction.
The festival extension will operate on specified dates between October 18 and November 12, 2026, retaining the train’s existing operating days and coach composition. Timings between Yesvantpur and Shivamogga Town will remain unchanged.
In a separate announcement, SWR said 10 trains would be diverted through Nagasamudram from October 16 because of doubling work in the Penukonda–Nagasamudram–Dharmavaram section of Bengaluru Division. No scheduled stoppages will be skipped because of the diversion, the railway said.
Talguppa Arrival at 9 AM, Return Departure at 10 PM
Train No. 16581 Yesvantpur–Shivamogga Town Express will depart from Yesvantpur at 12.15 am and reach Talguppa at 9 am on the same day during the temporary extension.
In the return direction, Train No. 16582 will originate from Talguppa at 10 pm and reach Yesvantpur at its existing scheduled arrival time.
The extension is intended to accommodate additional passenger demand during the Dasara and Deepavali festivals. It applies to the existing tri-weekly service rather than introducing a daily train.
On the extended section, both trains will stop at Konagavalli, Harnahalli, Kumsi, Arasalu, Kenchanalu, Anandapuram, Adderi and Sagara Jambagaru.
Passengers boarding or alighting between Yesvantpur and Shivamogga Town will continue to have the existing timings, with the temporary change extending the service beyond Shivamogga Town to Talguppa.
Ten Trains to Run Via Nagasamudram
The separate diversion arrangement will take effect from October 16, 2026.
The affected trains will run via Penukonda–Nagasamudram–Dharmavaram instead of the Penukonda–Sri Sathya Sai Prasanthinilayam–Dharmavaram route, according to SWR.
The services covered by the announcement are:
| Train number | Service | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| 22884 | Yesvantpur–Puri Garib Rath Express | Weekly |
| 22683 | Yesvantpur–Lucknow Superfast Express | Weekly |
| 12251 | Yesvantpur–Korba Waiganga Superfast Express | Bi-weekly |
| 15024 | Yesvantpur–Gorakhpur Express | Weekly |
| 12647 | Coimbatore–Hazrat Nizamuddin Superfast Express | Weekly |
| 16577 | Yesvantpur–Bidar Express | Weekly |
| 16578 | Bidar–Yesvantpur Express | Weekly |
| 11086 | Gwalior–SMVT Bengaluru Express | Weekly |
| 16531 | Ajmer–KSR Bengaluru Express | Weekly |
| 16533 | Jodhpur–KSR Bengaluru Express | Weekly |
The diversion covers both Bengaluru-originating services and trains arriving at Yesvantpur, SMVT Bengaluru and KSR Bengaluru. The Coimbatore–Hazrat Nizamuddin service is also included.
SWR specifically stated that no stoppages would be skipped under the revised routing. The change concerns the route taken between Penukonda and Dharmavaram.
The festival extension and the diversions are separate operational changes: the Yesvantpur–Shivamogga Town service will run through to Talguppa on specified dates beginning October 18, while the listed trains will follow the diversion from October 16.
The announcements were issued by Dr. Manjunath Kanamadi, Chief Public Relations Officer, South Western Railway, Hubballi.
